I appreciate that companies need to make new, and make money, but why stop allowing the use of old machines (especially on my private network in my own home) there cannot be many of these left, so the few that remain will not impact on the new equipment that companies are bringing out.īut I can see this is a lost battle-if it were people, "rights" would be talked about! If I am unable to get my printer to work with my old computer then my right to use a perfectly good printer will cease-all in the name of progress I suppose? It is such a shame that beautiful old things which still look and work like new are discarded because things move on. But if I can still use the printer from my old machine through direct printing that would be a bonus. I need help to move the equipment about so cannot do it at the moment. I am now looking at taking the printer off my network and attaching it directly to my old PowerMac, which still has the original printer driver software on it. I also looked at the gimp-print website and no joy there either.
